For over 95 years, Mitsubishi Electric has provided power transformers for energy transmission and distribution systems throughout the world.
We manufacture both shell-form and core-form design and have chosen to supply shell-form transformer designs for high voltage and/or large capacity applications. The approximate transition point between the core-form range and shell-form range is 200 MVA bank capacity, and 275 kV high voltage winding rating. All supplied transformers above this transition point adopt the shell-form design because of the inherent advantages of the shell-form design for high voltage, large capacity applications.
Core Form Transformers
Core-form transformers are manufactured on the basis of over half of a century of experience in transformer production. Continuous research efforts toward improvement of technical skills and materials have earned a high reputation for, and a wide acceptance of, Mitsubishi Electric core-form power transformers.

Shell Form Transformers
Through extensive experience and research and development Mitsubishi Electric can supply shell-form transformers of the highest level of quality, reliability and performance. From the outset, three-dimensional computer analysis of electric and magnetic fields inside the transformer have allowed Mitsubishi Electric produed shell-form transformers to avoid local-heating problems associated with other shell-form designs.
