<h1>We design, manufacture and install Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) utilty substation systems and leverage the compact size and encapsulated metal structure to provide significant advantages to our power utility customers.</h1>

<p>Compared to air insulated equipment, Gas Insulated Switchgear provides improvements in operational safety, compact physical size, aesthetic appearance, in close quarters operation and in relative environmental risk.</p>
<p>Breaker performance, across voltages of 69 kV to 800 kV, employs our time-tested single break, pure puffer interrupters. These interrupters are superior to all other alternatives in reliability, duration, simplicity of design and low maintenance costs. We also employ one of two Mitsubishi Electric spring spring mechanisms i.e. the next generation torsion bar spring spring (BM-2) mechanism or the pneumatic open-spring close (AM-38) mechanism. The BM-2 is part of a family that many consider the gold standard of spring spring mechanisms in the Industry.</p>
<p>Finally, we have been able to incorporate fast acting, disconnecting and ground switches, to substantially reduce size and modularity. Mitsubishi Electric has also added options for gang/independent pole operation, single/three phases, test and diagnostic capability and ergonomically designed control access panels.</p>

<p>High voltage DC is being touted as the transmission methodology of the future&mdash;revisiting the assertions made originally by Thomas Edison. &ldquo;The advantages of HVDC then became readily apparent. Compared to AC, HVDC is more efficient&mdash;a thousand-mile HVDC line carrying thousands of megawatts might lose 6 to 8 percent of its power, compared to 12 to 25 percent for a similar AC line1.&rdquo;</p>

<p>There are two other important factors to consider in HVDC. First, HVDC transmission allows for elimination of towers and aerial cables by using underground and submarine transmission. As power generation becomes more distant from the power consumer, this is essential to all power utilities. Placing towers and aerial transmission has become almost impossible in populated areas. In areas where aerial facilities exist, is the ability to construct a DC plant on existing AC tower paths, replacing AC lines. Thus, delivering more power to the same people, without creating a &ldquo;not in my backyard&rdquo; conflict.</p>

<p>Renewable energy - often referred to as &ldquo;clean energy&rdquo; - comes from natural sources or processes that are constantly replenished. This is as compared to nonrenewable, or &ldquo;dirty energy&rdquo;, including fuels such as oil, gas, and coal. Nonrenewable sources of energy are only available in limited amounts and take many lifetimes to replenish.</p>
