Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc.'s advanced nuclear plant controls are designed, built, and tested by Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (MELCO) in a fully 10 CFR 50 Appendix B-compliant engineering and production facility located at MELCO's Energy Systems Center (ESC), in Kobe, Japan.
Integrated Digital Control Room Test Facility
MEPPI’s Nuclear Systems Department (NSD) operates an integrated digital control room simulator facility at MEPPI headquarters in Warrendale, Pennsylvania. Established in 2008, the simulator facility demonstrates the efficiency improvements and safety advantages that a modern digital control room delivers to power plant operators, and was used by licensed nuclear power plant operators to support the verification and validation testing of the Human Systems Interface (HSI) design used in Mitsubishi Heavy Industries' (MHI) US-APWR nuclear power plant design, currently under review by the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). Over 650 guests have visited the facility to date, including many from the NRC.
