Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) is defined by the IEEE as "a power electronic based system and other static equipment that provide control of one or more AC transmission system parameters to enhance controllability and increase power transfer capability."
Mitsubishi Electric Power Products Inc. (MEPPI) has been a worldwide leader in the development, design, and manufacture of FACTS devices since the early 1970s. MEPPI's many accomplishments include the world's first Voltage Sourced Converter (VSC) based STATCOM for a utility in 1979 and the world's first commercial conventional Static Var Compensator (SVC) using direct light triggered thyristor (LTT) devices in 1984. Since then, we have supplied more than 60 SVCs with LTTs, which provides numerous operational advances for SVC applications.
Utilizing its experience and successive accumulation of technology for system studies, components, converters, valves, controllers, control software, installation, testing, turn-key system delivery, and application, MEPPI has successfully supplied and commissioned many highly reliable and operationally efficient FACTS systems, meeting or exceeding all of our customers' technical specifications and performance requirements.
